Methodology

Orange Book is a crowd-sourced archive of Hermès purchase experiences. Here's how each metric is defined and what to be careful about.

What "pre-spend ratio" means

Pre-spend = cumulative spend at the boutique divided by the target bag's retail price. 1x means the buyer spent the same amount as the bag before being offered; 2x means twice as much. Boutique policies vary, but community reports cluster between 0.5x and 2x for successful offers.

Sampling bias disclaimer

Most people post after they've successfully bought a bag. This means unsuccessful visits at low pre-spend are underreported, so the offer rates you see skew optimistic. Treat these numbers as a directional reference, not a guarantee.

Field definitions

"Offered & taken" = SA offered a bag and the buyer accepted; "Offered & declined" = SA offered but the buyer passed; "Not offered" = visit without an offer. "SA style" is self-reported as proactive, standard, or passive.
